Since graduating with an Early Childhood Dip Ed and furthering on with an M.A. in Applied Theatre Connie Bell has been an active member of Apples & Snakes (Britain’s leading performance poetry organisation). Having worked extensively in Literary and Cultural Arts for Companies such as Bernie Grant Arts Centre, The National Archive and Entelechy Education Arts etc, she has gained plaudits and praise for her unique style and ablitity to reach a diversity of children and parent audiences.
Her enthralling performances give thanks to those who came before and celebrate those fortunate enough to live in the present. Taking her cues from the Afro-Caribbean tradition of the griot, entertainment, education and a heartfelt Joie de vivre characterize each performance.

Sensory Baby Class News

Sensory Baby Class News

Due to popular demand Whippersnappers will be providing a second weekly baby sensory session on Thursdays which will take place on our  second site College lodge in Dulwich Park.

Summer term sensory baby classes start Wed 15th April  2015

Wednesday –  11.30am – 1.30pm  at Brockwell Lido – Tutor Penny Khader

Thursdays  – 11.30am – 1.30pm at College Lodge – Tutor Katherine Gray.

Our sensory baby classes are designed for new borns to crawlers and last for 2 hours. We provide free tea and coffee, a chance for parents/carers to meet up and socialise and provide a 45 minute music session with fully trained Whippersnapper music tutors. We include African drumming, sensory lighting , props, baby signing  and a variety of different activities for babies and grown ups.

Once your child reaches the crawling stage and becomes more mobile we would suggest you join our mixed baby and toddler classes which run across both our sites every day of the week.

Both our sites are very different.

Brockwell lido is where we began 21 years ago! This site is more theatrical with a stage and full lighting rig and sound system. It  is a great party venue and can be booked for parties during weekends. There is the Brockwell lido pool side café for a coffee before the class or lunch afterwards. This site is also very easily accessible as it  is near Herne Hill junction with lots of bus routes and Herne Hill over ground station.

College Lodge in Dulwich park is a  Victorian Park Keeper’s Lodge.  In 2010 Whippersnappers fund raised £250,000 to convert the building into a fully accessible community arts centre. Many children, young  people  and adults with disability are now benefiting from activities we hold at this fabulous venue. Activities include after school clubs, holiday play schemes,  Independent Living Skills, Art and Drama Therapy and creative courses for adults with learning disabilities. The site has a beautiful garden with a log cabin  as well as an indoor dining area, upstairs workshop space and therapy rooms. College Lodge is just to your left as you enter Dulwich Park opposite Dulwich Picture Gallery. There are plenty of cafés and restaurants in Dulwich Village for Lunch or The pavilion Café situated inside the Park. College Lodge is also a very popular party venue on weekends.
