College Lodge (Dulwich Park) now open for Classes, Workshops and Parties !!

In 2010 Whippersnappers were awarded a 15 year lease  for College Lodge from Southwark Council. Whippersnappers have since raised £215,000 from the Aiming High Southwark and Lambeth  Capital funding programme to convert the building into a fully accessible Community Arts centre. Southwark Council have paid for all the exterior renovation of this beautiful Mock Tutor Victorian Park Keepers Lodge.

The building was officially opened on April 2nd 2011 by The Mayors of Southwark and Lambeth. Whippersnappers are now beginning to deliver activities on site and welcome any suggestions or feed back. (Please feel free to write any comments in our visitors book in reception.)

CLASSES AND ACTIVITIES  2011

  • Whippersnapper Multi Sensory Baby and Toddler Music Session (term-time only)

Zany and zestful music classes with African drumming, props, costumes, bubbles andMakaton signing, specialising in lots of inter-active play and funky fun for everyone.

Tues & Wed 9.30am, Fri 9.30am and 10.30am, Sat 10am £8 / £5.50 cons

(Free for children with additional needs living in Lambeth or Southwark)


  • Baby Massage for pregnant women and Mums with Newborns (term-time only)

1 hour session. Arrive early to enjoy tea and freshly cooked cake, or stay on for lunch. Great way to meet other parents/carers, learn new skills and have fun at the same time.

Tuesdays 12pm – 1pm £8 / £5.50 cons

(Free for children with additional needs living in Lambeth or Southwark)


  • Baby Music (term-time only)

A great way to meet other new mums and have fun learning to sing and sign songs to your babies. Arrive early to take advantage of our wonderful home-cooked food.

Tuesdays 2pm – 2.45pm £8 / £5.50 cons

(Free for children with additional needs living in Lambeth or Southwark)


  • Adult Drawing Classes (term-time only)

Try your hand at Still Life, Life Drawing and a variety of different drawing techniques.

Wednesdays 12 – 2pm £8 / £5.50 concs.

(Includes a break for tea, coffee and snacks. Bring your own or enjoy our in-house

freshly cooked food from £1.50)


  • Elders Drop-In Club (term-time only)

Come and enjoy lunch with us followed by activities – Arts and Crafts, Book Club and more. A lovely venue to meet up with friends you know and those you don’t.

Mondays 12 – 3pm £3.50 for Lunch.

  • Elders Gentle ‘Chair-fit’ Exercise Club (term-time only)

Mondays 12 – 1pm £3.00 per week/£12 per 6 weeks.


  • Birthday Party Bookings (day-time only)

An intimate new venue for Private Parties – Arts and Crafts Parties, Musical Parties, Picnic Garden Parties – entertainment inc. (Catering from additional £4 per head)

Parties run for 2 hours with an additional 1hr to set-up and 1hr clearing up. click here for more info

  • Singing Classes

Whippersnappers will be starting a singing group for 8 – 13 year olds on Mon Feb 27th.

Where: College Lodge, College Rd, Dulwich Park, SE21 7BQ

When: Mondays 4.30pm – 5.30pm (Term time only)

Tutor: Amanda Posener West end Musical Actress and voice coach.

Pianist: Bruna Piscopo : Concert Pianist

Cost: £2.50 per child / £4 siblings.

Children with disabilities welcome.

FUNDED PROJECTS AT THE LODGE

 

* Children in Need are funding group Drama and Art therapy sessions for children with disability and / or emotional behaviour difficulties. This project runs from May 2011 – March 2014.

* The Cabinet Office Transition fund has funded Whippersnappers to develop an improved marketing strategy, develop our shop and café to help with the College Lodge financial sustainability and to train more of our staff to deliver our Disability Awareness Programme. This project runs from May 2011 – March 2012.

* Southwark and Lambeth Aiming High have invested capital funds to renovate the building. In return Whippersnappers will be offering the following services for children with disability: independent living skills, free entrance to our baby and toddler sensory music classes, holiday and half term music and creative art workshops, free use of the building for voluntary groups. Call us for more information.
