Two girls arrive on holiday in Guadeloupe and meet a local fisherman on the beach. He tells them it’s a good time of year to visit because it’s carnival time.
The girls haven’t packed any carnival costumes or musical instruments to play so in a resourceful Caribbean style the fisherman empties the dustbins and turns all the junk into a recycled drum kit and magics the scraps of cloth into carnival sun and moon costumes. We then hear the story of how the sun was married to the moon, we meet the sky god and find out why we now have night and day.
Suitable for nursery and primary aged children.
Lots of inter-action with the children and a strong recycling theme.
Carnival workshops also available — shaker and drum making, carnival costume designing.
